Albuquerque police are on the lookout for the two yet-unidentified suspects in the background of this surveillance screenshot. The woman in the foreground, Sheri Albillar, was arrested earlier this month and immediately ratted out co-conspirator Robert De Patti. Police visits to Albillar and De Patti’s homes confirmed that they were both behind multiple heists at Global Storage.
According to a police report, thieves had been striking the Albuquerque self-storage facility for the past two months, breaking into lockers at random. Equipped with gloves and a dolly, they made off with quite a haul – dishwasher, washer and dryer, a sectional leather couch, multiple beds and bed frames – all of which De Patti used to furnish his own apartment.
Unfortunately, authorities have been unable to return many of the stolen items to their rightful owners because they have been contaminated by components of a self-storage methamphetamine lab. The meth materials were found in De Patti’s home near the crib of a one-month old baby. Both De Patti and Albillar haven been charged with burglary and child abuse, amongst other charges.
In addition to being caught on video, Albillar had TV sets and Star Wars collectibles in her apartment that link her to the burglaries. This story reminds us just how important security cameras are to crime prevention. Also, we should encourage tenants to use the more secure storage unit locks on their lockers.
Detective Brian Lund is asking anyone who may know these two unidentified suspects to contact Albuquerque authorities.
