Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services Inc. has named a new leader for its National Self-Storage Group.
Richard Bird, who most recently was regional manager of Marcus & Millichap’s offices in Las Vegas and Salt Lake City, has been elevated to national director of the firm’s self-storage group.
“Richard has proven to be a capable leader with us over the years in his previous roles as both a successful sales agent and in management,” John Kerin, president and CEO of Marcus & Millichap, said in a news release. “His background and knowledge of the self-storage specialty area will be instrumental in growing our self-storage team nationally.”
Bird succeeds Michael Hoffman, who left the commercial real estate brokerage. Hoffman had been national director of the firm’s storage group since 2011.
Marcus & Millichap’s National Self-Storage Group participated in more than $460 million worth of deals in 2012. The group comprises 50 agents around the country.
“One of the biggest things I bring to the table is experience in expanding the group into the West in Utah and Nevada,” Bird told The Storage Facilitator in a statement. “Going forward, my vision is to continue our firm’s expansion into other major markets and build on what has been established by the industry’s top self-storage brokers in our firm. We’re going to build around top agents like Chico LeClaire in Denver, Mike Mele in Florida, Sean Delaney in Chicago and Nick Walker in California.”
Bird was named regional manager of the firm’s Salt Lake City office in 2008 and of the firm’s Las Vegas office in 2011. Before that, he had been sales manager in the firm’s offices in Denver, Salt Lake City and Fort Collins, CO. Bird joined Calabasas, CA-based Marcus & Millichap in 2004 to specialize in sales of multifamily investment properties in Idaho and Utah.
