One of the best ways for self-storage facilities to market themselves is through community involvement. The Westy Self Storage facility in Lake Success, NY, is putting a special twist on the community involvement approach.
On April 12, the Lake Success facility will serve as a drop-off location for the 2015 Prom Boutique, sponsored by the Long Island Volunteer Center. The facility also will store donated items from various drop-off points.
The Prom Boutique is a way to help local young women celebrate these occasions with a beautiful outfit that they would otherwise be unable to obtain.

Westy Self Storage and other drop-off sites will be accepting new or gently used dresses and accessories for occasions like prom, graduation and Sweet 16. The clothing and accessories will be available for free to girls whose families can’t afford them.
“It is with great pleasure that we continue our participation in the Prom Boutique,” said Yasir Zaidi, district director of Westy Self Storage. “Sharing in [the] celebration of milestones of young women, such as the prom, brings us great satisfaction.”
Among the donated items being sought by the Prom Boutique are new or gently used prom gowns, bridesmaid’s dresses, special occasion dresses, shoes, handbags and costume jewelry.
“The Prom Boutique is a way to help local young women celebrate these occasions with a beautiful outfit that they would otherwise be unable to obtain,” said Diana O’Neill, executive director of the Long Island Volunteer Center.
Westy Self Storage, based in Stamford, CT, operates 17 self-storage facilities in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.
