Look at a detailed holiday and national or regional events calendar, and you’ll be hard-pressed not to come up with some fun ideas for self-storage promotions during the year. We’re not necessarily talking about the more well-known calendar dates. In fact, the lesser-known celebrations may draw much more attention and interest–and ultimately business. Ever hear of Belly Laugh Day on Jan. 24? Well, you’ll have to wait until next year. Sweetest Day, slated for Oct. 19 this year, is a special day to celebrate the people who make our lives special. Some think of it as a second Valentine’s Day.
Coming up soon is the start of Daylight Savings on March 10. How about a “Here Comes the Sun” promotion or “Light Up Your Life” special deal for existing tenants who refer new ones for a specified time. Or, if you’re feeling ambitious, you could do a month-long “March into Spring” celebration, tying in such holidays as St. Patrick’s Day (17th) and the first day of Spring (20th).
The month of March also celebrates Music In Our Schools. With budget cuts, there is a strong push to find ways to sustain programs. An enterprising self-storage owner could parlay this into a fundraising or other type of promotion to support the cause. How about a “Concert in the Park(ing Area)” of your facility featuring nearby school music departments to provide an awareness-raising forum?
